New on SMARD: network tariff data

-

SMARD’s “Energy data compact” section now includes detailed information on electricity and gas network tariffs.

Network operators charge network tariffs to finance the maintenance, expansion and operation of their electricity and gas networks. These make up quite a considerable part of the retail price although they vary from region to region. Commercial and industrial customers pay lower network tariffs than household customers.

A series of data on network tariffs for electricity and gas broken down by year, federal state and consumption volume can now be accessed in the “Energy data compact” section for the first time. There is also an overview of the network tariffs charged for typical customers of all German electricity and gas network operators over several years available for download, adding a further category to the information on offer.

A separate article in the “Energy market explained” section details how network tariffs are calculated and charged.
