Data protection
The Bundesnetzagentur takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. You have the right to know what data we collect and when and how we use it. We have taken technical and organisational measures to ensure that data protection regulations are respected both by us and by our external service providers.
Changes to this data protection statement may also become necessary in the course of the further development of our websites and the implementation of new technologies. We therefore recommend that you regularly review this data protection statement.
Personal data collected during the registration of a user account is used for the purpose of processing your inquiries. No transfer of data to a third party will ever take place. Data will not be processed or used for purposes relating to consulting, advertising or market research. If your user account is deleted, all your personal data will be subsequently deleted from our database.
Cookies, which are used on certain pages of our website, are valid until the end of the session. Most browsers are set to accept cookies automatically. However, you can deactivate the storage of cookies or set your browser to only store cookies for each time you are connected to the internet.
Our website contains links to websites from other providers. We have no influence over whether or not these providers respect data protection regulations.
The Bundesnetzagentur is subject to the provisions of the Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz - BDSG) and the Telemedia Act (Telemediengesetz - TMG). Personal data will be processed under strict observance of these provisions. In particular, personal data will not be transferred to third parties without proper authorisation and is only used for the tasks legally assigned to the Bundesnetzagentur.
Data protection in social media
The Bundesnetzagentur takes the ongoing debate about data protection in social networks very seriously. At the moment there is no clear legal position as to whether and to what extent all the social networks' services comply with European data protection regulations. As soon as there are any new, legally sound positions relevant to the operation of our Twitter channel https://twitter.com/bnetza we will respond immediately. Until then, you should think carefully about which personal data you share via the social networks.
We would like to draw your particular attention to the fact that Twitter (https://twitter.com/privacy) collects and stores its users' information (personal information, IP address, etc) as described in its privacy policy and uses the information for business purposes.
The Bundesnetzagentur has no influence on the collection and use of data by social networks. We are unable to tell how much data is stored, or where and for how long, to what extent the networks comply with current requirements for deleting data, how the data collected is processed and linked, or to whom the data is passed on.
If you need any more information about how personal data is handled, please contact the Bundesnetzagentur's data protection officer.
