You may have already noticed that the consumption and generation data for pumped storage power stations in the “Market data visuals” section has not been displayed correctly since 27 November. The consumption and generation curves displayed are superimposed, which gives the impression that pumped storage power stations are feeding in and taking off electricity at the same time.

We have identified the cause of the problem to be in the transmission of the data between the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) and SMARD. Although the pumped storage data is being displayed correctly on the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform, identical figures are being transmitted to SMARD for consumption and for generation.

We are working hard to find a solution to the problem, but it is not clear how long this will take. In the meantime, you can view the correct time series for pumped storage on the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform.
