Prices for new customers broadly unchanged

There were different trends in energy prices in May. Modelled industrial and dynamic electricity prices rose, while electricity and gas prices for new customers remained broadly unchanged.

The electricity price for new household customers as modelled by the Bundesnetzagentur for May was 34.66 ct/kWh, down from 34.89 ct/kWh in April, while the price for existing customers remained unchanged at 34.92 ct/kWh.

By contrast, the modelled dynamic electricity price was up from 32.88 ct/kWh in April to 34.91 ct/kWh in May.

There was a clear monthly increase in the modelled industrial electricity prices. The price including all possible reductions was 10.76 ct/kWh (April: 9.61 ct/kWh), while the price without any reductions was 16.29 ct/kWh (April: 15.14 ct/kWh).

The modelled gas price for new household customers for May was 10.54 ct/kWh, slightly lower than the price in April of 10.77 ct/kWh. The price for existing customers was more or less unchanged at 10.41 ct/kWh.
