Electricity and gas price indices in October
The price indices for new gas customers and existing electricity customers have fallen when compared with the previous month. The modelled industrial electricity prices rose slightly in September.
The price indices for October for household electricity customers have diverged. The index for new customers has risen by 0.9 points to 111.7 points, whereas the index for existing customers has fallen by 0.5 points to 112.7 points. Thus when compared with the previous month, prices for new customers are slightly higher and those for existing customers slightly lower.
There are also divergent index trends for household gas customers. For new customers the index has fallen by 0.5 points to 165.3 points, while the index for existing customers has remained steady at 170.6 points. Thus new customers will pay less than in the previous month.
The modelled industrial electricity prices rose slightly in September. The price without reductions was 16.16 ct/kWh compared with 15.83 ct/kWh in the previous month. Including all possible price reductions, the modelled price rose to 10.04 ct/kWh compared with 9.72 ct/kWh in August.
