Supplier switching is the process of a final customer’s market location being allocated to a new supplier. Non-household customers are final customers that use electricity for professional, agricultural or commercial purposes and have an annual electricity consumption of more than 10 megawatt hours (MWh).

Switching contract or supplier are ways in which customers can influence the price of their electricity and the terms and conditions of their contract. Changes in switching rates are important indicators of the level of competition. A high switching rate indicates the availability of a range of alternative offers. This depends on there being enough suppliers and effective competition.
